MEET OUR TEACHERS
Judy K. Tokubo is teaching Grade 4-6 public speaking class at Golden Bear Education. Ms. Tokubo is a retired secondary classroom teacher, who has taught social studies/history, English/language arts, and a variety of electives for over 30 years in the Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District (Truckee High School and North Tahoe Middle School), and the Alum Rock Elementary School District (Lee Mathson and Joseph George Middle Schools) at North Tahoe.
Judy is an active “people” person, who is currently involved in activities with the Newark Library League, Kennedy Elementary School in Newark, Newark Library’s Write to Read reading club, Newark Toastmasters, Cover to Cover and Undercover book clubs at the Newark Library, SACBC in Union City, Japanese American Museum in San Jose, BCA Center for Buddhist Education in Berkeley, as well as her large extended family in the Bay Area. Recently, her reading club received the Learning Together Award and Judy was honored with the Senior Volunteer of the Year award in Newark. One of her favorite quotations is “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
Tina Ebey is teaching English writing class at Golden Bear Education. Ms. Ebey is graduated from New York University. She has over twenty years’ working experience in education. She has taught and tutored thousands of students throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area and internationally.
Ariel Hamilton is teaching English Language Arts class at Golden Bear Education. Ms. Hamilton is an English major with a concentration in creative writing. She has over six years of tutoring and teaching experiences with preschool and elementary students. Emphasized in English teaching, Ariel also has experiences in tutoring in many different subjects such as marine science and public speaking.
Ariel loves to work with children, whether it is teaching them, writing stories for them, or simply babysitting. “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” Ariel is practicing Steve Jobs’ words.
Xuemin Wang is teaching K-6 after-school Mandarin class at Golden Bear Education. Ms. Wang is graduated from Langfang Teachers College with a BA degree in education. After graduation, she became an elementary school teacher and taught at a local school for five years. She is a certified senior Chinese language arts teacher and has received several times the Outstanding Teachers Award and the Top Ten Teachers Award.
Ms. Wang is a very patient and considerate teacher. Her philosophy of teaching is to inspire students to develop their interests and help students to love learning, know how to learn, and being effective at learning.
Ming Zhao is the educational administrator of Golden Bear Education. He supervises the teaching performance and curriculum design of teachers. Mr. Zhao holds a Master’s degree in Education, a Bachelor’s degree in English Language Arts, and a California teaching credential with Grade K-12 Mandarin and ELA authorization. Mr. Zhao has worked as a high school Mandarin teacher at Redwood High School in Larkspur, which is a leading school in Northern California. He has also worked for a California-wide educational franchise company. “Doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way.” is his pursuit in life.
Samia Zaheer holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Biotechnology. She was a school teacher teaching science and mathematics at a local elementary school in Karachi before she immigrated with her husband to the United States. With a true passion for math and science, she has been tutoring students ranging from elementary to college-age.
Samia is positive, patient and result oriented. Her goal is to impart knowledge that enhances the critical thinking and analytical skills of her students and helps them learn on their own. She combines her range of experience with her ability to be a compassionate, enthusiastic, intelligent tutor who will make a positive contribution.
Lei Lin is the executive director and chief college application advisor of Golden Bear Education. Mr. Lin has over ten years’ experiences in marketing, administration, and college application. During his six years’ work at Leewen Foreign Language School as the vice principal, Lei Lin had contributed greatly to the fast expansion of the school.
Mr. Lin is a decisive and visionary person. His life motto is “Time and tide wait for no man”. People know him are impressed by his erudition, efficiency, and credibility.
Mr. Charles has over twenty-six years’ experiences in English language arts teaching and tutoring. He has taught students aging from kindergarten to college graduates. For elementary students, Mr. Charles is specialized in vocabulary, grammar, and reading comprehension teaching. For middle school and high school students, Mr. Charles is an ideal teacher for helping them on ACT and SAT test preparations and writing improvement. Mr. Charles is a well-planned and dedicated teacher. His class can ignite students’ motivation to succeed and the willingness to learn.
Vivan Gong is teaching K-6 art classes at Golden Bear Education. Ms. Gong is graduated from China Academy of Art. She is one of the founders of Qing Qing Art Studio and has been teaching art classes to K-12 students for over six years. Her class emphasizes the guided creation rather than imitation. She focuses on improving the basic drawing skills of students and leaves ample space for students to create their own artworks.
